Introducing the u-blox 8 module series

Thalwil – April 27, 2016 – with today’s introduction of the new u-blox 8 GNSS modules, u-blox raises the bar for tomorrow’s low power and cost-efficient positioning module products for single GNSS reception. These modules complement u blox’s GNSS portfolio by addressing power sensitive usage, whereas the existing u blox M8 modules continue to serve applications where navigation performance and highest accuracy are paramount.
The new u-blox 8 modules are the natural successors of u-blox 7 modules with more than 10% lower power consumption and a 4 dB higher tracking sensitivity of -166 dBm. u-blox 8 modules come with additional features for high robustness, e.g. spoofing detection, message integrity, and improved jamming immunity. Built-in odometer and geofencing are particularly attractive for all sorts of tracking applications.
u-blox 8 modules are available in several form factors and oscillator configurations. They support various interfaces, making them very flexible for a wide range of industrial or consumer applications. u-blox 8 modules are manufactured at ISO 9001 and TS16949 9001 certified fully automated production lines, ensuring the highest quality. All modules are also qualified according to ISO16750 standard for vehicle use.
All this makes u-blox 8 modules the ideal choice whenever GPS or GLONASS reception is sufficient and where lowest system cost, robust performance and minimal power consumption is key.

The new u-blox modules will be available as Engineering Samples in May/June 2016 and in volumes in August.
