New Cable-Less SATA Power Technology for Disk-On-Modules

Posted by Ken Bloom on

The expansion of cloud computing and mobile devices and their use for data storage and analysis is growing in importance. Along with that growth, there has also been an increase in the server market. When focusing on the longevity of operations and big data, the storage needed should have high reliability and be compact to use in sever application.

Innodisk presents their new-patented Pin 8 VCC technology in the latest SATADOM® and ServerDOM series. The Pin 8 uses the SATA connector as a power supply to drive the device without external cables and it simplifies the circuit design. This provides a robust physical connection between the SSD and motherboard while increasing system reliability. With these advantages, SATADOM® could be used in many kinds of server applications and industrial embedded systems, such as railway transportation, applications that have high degrees of vibration, and oil exploration when wide temperature is a factor.

With its small form factor, industrial grade technologies and reliable power sourcing, SATADOM® provides the perfect compact flash storage for servers. Innodisk’s ServerDOM comes in a more compact version of the SATADOM®. It is specifically designed for server applications. Using ultra-compact Innodisk nanoSSD flash, ServerDOM has a slim form factor that fits into some of the most low-profile rackmount and blade chassis.
